چکیده

A non-destructive, fast 2D profile monitor for an ion beam accelerator can be achieved by creating a high-density gas-sheet target in vacuum. It is known that gas flow through long rectangular channel with very small gap-to-width ratio effectual forming sheet. To obtain sheet the desired performance, spatial distribution of emitted molecules candidate should examined more detail. As part development, load also investigated to maintain tubes ultra-high For efficient investigation, we explored possibility using direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method instead experiments. We measured (N2 and Ar) gap = 0.1 mm, width b 50 length L 100 mm derived vacuum conductance C Knudsen number (Kn) range 0.03–104. Then, comparing Kn dependence conductance, DSMC was used calculate transmission probability (the Clausing factor Ck) passing infinite width. The changes Ck are similar. decreases from ∼103, begin decrease rapidly reach minimum when between 1 0.5. Then they increase as further <0.5. Furthermore, successfully simulated ejected molecular collisions occur increasing inlet pressure.

Sound propagation through a rarefied gas in rectangular channels.

Sound propagation through a rarefied gas inside a two-dimensional cavity is investigated on the basis of the linearized Boltzmann equation, where one of the cavity walls oscillates harmonically in the direction normal to its own surface and is considered as a sound source. An analytical solution at high oscillation frequencies is obtained and detailed numerical results for a wide range of gas r...

DSMC Simulation with Gas-Surface Interaction Models in Hypersonic Rarefied Flow

A DSMC (direct simulation Monte Carlo) simulation using Dynamical Molecular Collision (DMC) model based on Molecular Dynamics (MD) calculation with various gas-surface interaction models is applied for solving the two-dimensional nonequilibrium hypersonic rarefied flow over a flat plate with leading edge angle. The gas surface interaction models adopt the diffuse reflection model, the Cercignan...

Assessment of Gas-Surface Interaction Models in DSMC Analysis of Rarefied Hypersonic Flow

The aerothermodynamics of spacecraft entering a planetary atmosphere are sensitive to the level of gas-surface accommodation governed by the gas-surface interaction. The modeling of this interaction plays an integral role in the solid surface boundary condition of the Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method. The Maxwell, and Cercignani, Lampis and Lord (CLL) gas-surface interaction models a...

Stability of Core-Annular Flow with Very Small Viscosity Ratio

It is known that the stability problem for core-annular flow of very viscous crude oil and water is singular, the water annulus appears to be inviscid with boundary layers at the pipe wall and at the interface. In the present paper, this singular problem is treated by the method of matched asymptotic expansions using ∈ = m/Rα as a small parameter. There are two cases of instability correspondin...
